  • The aim in high jumping is to clear (leap over) a crossbar resting at progressively greater heights between two upright standards about 4 m (about 13 ft) apart.

  • The jumper is allowed three attempts to clear each height.

  • I fault is caused when the jumper, knocks the bar over, crosses under the bar on his run up, jumps with two feet, or when the jumper uses up all his time.

  • The jumper has 2 minutes to jump after the official calls his name out to jump.

  • The jumper is allowed two run ups to the bar without touching the bar or cross under the bar. If the jumper does not jump in to run ups, it counts as one fault.

  • The bar goes up by five cm each round. Until there are six jumpers left then they go up by 3 cm.

  • There is no wrong way of jumping as long as you jump with one foot take off.

  • These rules are rules of the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations(OFSAA)
